Arguably wingspan is more important than raw height. It's what enables guys like Nate Robinson to actually make use of their talents against significantly taller players. Raw height matters mostly because it gives you a bigger body to get around and clog space and it also gives you length to receive passes, shoot over guys and get rebounds. no no no, they are NOT overrated... a longer wing span means: being able to shoot over bigger defenders, the point that you said which isnt too important, being a longer defender, contesting shots more, etc.... so many things

Hardly Exceptional because Kobe is about 6'6. A great wingspan helps, but they are a bit overrated. I'm just under 6'2 and have a 6'9 wingspan It did help me dunk a little sooner than I would've been able to.

The rainstorm that landed in Los Angeles yesterday made for treacherous conditions on local roads and for some residents whose homes faced the threat of collapsing hillsides and debris flow, particularly in the recent burn areas, like those of the massive Station Fire.

The rain, however, will taper off this morning, and by 10 a.m. the Winter Storm Watch will be lifted. We can expect to have partly cloudy conditions for the remainder of the day, but we'll stay rain-free for the next few days with sunny or mostly sunny skies and temps in the upper 60s and low 70s.

Last night an evacuation shelter was set up at La Cañada High School, where American Red Cross volunteers were ready to greet anyone who was made to leave their hillside home as part of the mandatory evacuation orders issued in the area. "36 homes in La Canada Flintridge, six in La Crescenta and two in the Big Tujunga area" were evacuated last night, as the threat of debris flow and mudslides loomed over the recently-fire stripped hills, according to cbs2. This morning, those evacuation orders were lifted.

If Dirk wants to win a championship in another city, he wouldn't be the number 1 man like he is in Dallas. He's too old to build a championship team around. He'd have to play 2nd fiddle to a player who's already the number 1 man. I don't think Dirk is interested in doing that at this stage of his career.

it's respectable that he wants to remain loyal to Dallas, unlike the hoopla surrounding the summer of 2010 and the uncertainty of Lebron, Wade and Bosh.

But if I were him or his agent, I would opt out just for the sake of re-upping with Dallas for another long term deal. I know he's got a boatload of money already but if he blows out his knee next season, then that's it for him.
